Good news eco-friendly drivers – GM has just announced that it is going to start work on the next-generation EN-V concept vehicle.
General Motors will be testing its new and improved Chevrolet EN-V with pilot demonstration programs in large cities around the world in order to prove that these vehicles are practical in any urban environment. The EN-V, which stands for Electric Networked-Vehicle, is a two-seat, electric urban mobility vehicle that offers its owners flexibility and freedom.
“For 100 years, the Chevrolet brand has been focused on making advanced technology that improves customers’ lives accessible and affordable, and the Chevrolet EN-V will continue that tradition,” said Chris Perry, vice president, global Chevrolet marketing and strategy. “By 2030, more than 60 percent of the world’s 8 billion people will live in urban areas. The Chevrolet EN-V represents a possible solution for global customers living in markets where alternative transportation solutions are needed.”
The EN-V was first unveiled at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, and it made a big impact on the crowd with its cool design, eco-friendly properties and its compact size that would help with traffic congestion, parking and energy use.
And just because it’s small, it doesn’t mean it’s lacking any of the essential features needed to make the drive a comfortable one. The new EN-V concept comes with climate control, storage space, all-weather and road condition operation, battery electric propulsion, connectivity and autonomous driving capabilities. This zero-emissions vehicle is powered by lithium-ion batteries and uses a conventional wall outlet to recharge. It can go at least 40 kilometers on a single charge – enough to get you to work and back, plus run a few errands in between.
